Our walks with God should be the most important thing in our lives... [Jun. 26th, 2005|08:17 am]

[Current Mood |confusedLord, help me...]

Yesterday I was talking with Kathy and Misty... About what I wanted to take home from Mexico... As in... What did I want God to teach me? I shared with them my constant desire to just be in the Word daily... And that I really need the discipline to do so.

Well, last night, the Lord laid this story on my heart to share with a friend, and I thought I'd share it with you all also. I found it in a book called "WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO?" It's about what does a girl do when looking for "Mr. Right". :-D ANYWHO, she had this illustration in there that is SO cool. Karla used to use it alot back when I was IN Children's Ministry... Lol... I was in 5th grade I believe when I first saw it... It's the coolest thing... and is so convicting...

"Think of a jar that is three-quarters full of rock, and another that is three-quarters full of sand.If you try to put the sand first, and then the rocks, they won't all fit. But if you put the rocks in first, and then pour the sand into the jar, the sand will fit AROUND the rocks. Our time with God needs to be like the rocks. FIRST. First to go into the jar. NONNEGOTIABLE. The sand is the endless list of other things that we have to do in life. It can all fit AROUND the rocks... or AROUND our walk with Christ."

I struggle so much with just being in the Word. It's hard for me to get up in the morning and open my Bible, rather than going to the computer so I can check my e-mail before I head to work.

But really... God is so much more important than our e-mail, our job, our home, school activities, computer games, Halo, art, music, movies, etc.... He DESERVES to be FIRST in our lives... The ROCK that we build our lives on... Our only foundation. We can't build our lives on music, or movies, or friends. Well, we can, but it will all fail, because nothing is better and more important THAN OUR GOD...

So doesn't His Word DESERVE to be read every morning?

Remember this: You are His bride. You are a daughter of God. You are born again. Which means you also have been buried with Christ and rose a NEW creation - all that old stuff is buried. So you don't have to "try" to be anything because he sees you as perfect and righteous! It is in the bible you can read it - though it is hard to accept as truth especially looking at circumstances. You have to take the Word of God and eat it. Literally as Ezekiel and John and the others ate the scroll you have to eat it and it will be sweet as you take it in but bitter in your stomach - but oh the world you will see! It then becomes a relationship with Jesus! And when I saw the book you had read it made me think of my own personal journey struggling with the Word, not being able to get into it, much less retain any of it, something missing. Because this is a DIVINE romance that you are involved. He is seeking you. You are seeking Him. You will find him when you seek him! I can say this because I was this way for 10 years before I suddenly found Him and then this summer He showed me even more. His love is limitless and you can know Him in the way you see others knowing him. It's not about what all you do. You can't be anymore born again then what you are. You are a joint-heir and the only thing that changes that is a decision that you make. But also you have to believe that He can be more than your circumstance, more than you dream or think possible because in ALL things He touches, they are changed.

His Word DOES deserve to be read. But if you allow Him to He will write His Word on your heart and you will know it deeper than you have ever dreamed. You will live it and you will eat with him. Having dinner with people is considered an intimate thing -- it says Hey, you're special enough to eat with me. In Revelation 3:20 Jesus said "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me." You have to open the door. If you notice in a lot of the passages of the bible YOU have to step out of your comfort zone to him. Like Peter did when Jesus said Come to me out in the boat...Peter had to step out onto the water to walk to him. That wasn't comfortable.

Take the faith you have and REST in Jesus. Read Hebrews 4. There is more to salvation that accepting Christ and many many miss the true love you can experience. It's divine and like nothing you've ever had before. A love so pure and deep it makes you speechless.

I hope I haven't intruded but I felt really pressed to write to you. Feel free to add me or visit my journal.
